March 2009 - NSW Beach Soccer trial day

The FFA has decided to select a National Beach Football team which will aim to compete in the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup to be held in Dubai in November 2009. The FFA will be entering a team in the Asian Football Confederation Beach Soccer Qualifying Tournament in May 2009.

In conjunction with Member Federations, the FFA will conduct trials for invited players from across Australia in 6 locations which started in Melbourne. The trials will then move on to Brisbane, Sydney, Newcastle, Perth and Adelaide in the coming weeks.

Look on your States Federation web site for local Trial dates.

Identified players from the trial days will be invited to attend a National Team Camp to be held in April. The camp will be under the direction of newly appointed National Beach Football Head Coach Airton Andrioli. Airton currently works as State and Regional Development Officer with Football Federation South Australia and has had extensive experience in the area of beach football. Airton was the head coach of the Solomon Islands Olympic National team as well as their National Beach Football team.

January 2008 - The Solomon Islands are heading to Marseille to represent Oceania at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup

The OFC Executive Committee agreed to nominate the Solomon Islands as the OFC representatives. The Solomon Islands were nominated on the back of two years of strong performances in Beach Soccer, and were crowned OFC Beach Soccer champions in 2006 and 2007.

December 2007 –Maroubra Beach, Football Tournament

The Eastern Suburb Football Association hosted the third consecutive Beach Football tournament at Maroubra Beach. 16 Men teams and 6 Women teams participated in the tournament in December. It was another display of skill, agility and goals on Sydney beaches under perfect weather conditions.

November 2007 – Inaugural Beach Football Competition in Western Australia

Football West is hosting the inaugural Beach Football Competition at Cottesloe Beach this summer over 16 weeks. (November 2007 to February 2008) 16 teams are participating in the mixed gender competition on Wednesday evenings. According to David West, West Competition Manager, ‘the event will be a healthy and enjoyable pastime for the Perth football community.’.

August 2007 - France and the UAE to host FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in 2008 and 2009

French city Marseilles will host the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2008, the first time in the event’s history that it will be held outside of its birthplace of Brazil. Twelve months later, the United Arab Emirates will stage the event in Dubai.

October 2007 - Draw of the 2007 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Rio de Janeiro Brazil

16 teams who will be competing in the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Rio de Janeiro 2007 from 2- 11 November 2007. The teams have been divided into the following four groups:
Group A: Brazil, Solomon Islands, Russia, Mexico
Group B: USA, Spain, Portugal, Iran,
Group C: Japan, Senegal, Uruguay, Italy
Group D: UAE, France, Nigeria, Argentina

Mexico, Russia, Senegal and the United Arab Emirates will be participating at a Beach Soccer World Cup for the first time and they will be hungry for success.

12 November 2006 - Brazil wins 2006 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup

There were no surprises this year. The Brazilian team won the 2006 FIFA Beach Soccer World Championship on 12 November 2006 in Rio de Janeiro beating Uruguay 4:1. With this victory the team of Alexandre Soares completed a perfect Beach Soccer World Cup campaign winning every game in the tournament. Previous World Cup winners France finished third after beating Portugal 6:4.

9 December 2006, Eastern Suburb Beach Soccer Tournament at Maroubra Beach

The 2006 Eastern Suburb Beach Soccer Tournament at Maroubra Beach took place on 9 December 2006. Eight mens and six girls teams participated this year. It was the first beach soccer tournament which was endorsed by Soccer NSW. The mens final was won by ……… after defeating ……… 2:1.
